Building Next-Generation AI Tools to Support Hydropower License Applications – An Interactive Workshop

Time: 2:30 PM - 5:15 PM
Room Number: Red Bud
Day: 3/10/2026

Brought to you by:

Emerging artificial intelligence (AI) tools -- built on regulatory text, environmental data, and structured licensing workflows -- have the potential to reduce drafting time, improve consistency, and ease administrative burden across complex electricity-related permitting and licensing filings.

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is beginning to making major investments in the design of these tools and wants to ensure that they are developed to solve real hydropower licensing challenges.

This workshop brings together hydropower permitting practitioners with teams from the DOE and its national laboratories to discuss how these tools could best be applied in real-life licensing and permitting workflows.

Special Feature!
The National Hydropower Association (NHA) has created and is beta testing a new AI-driven tool for use in regulatory/permitting related work. This is your unique opportunity to see a live demo of the new tool!
