This session explores how State Historic Preservation Officers (SHPOs) and Tribal Historic Preservation Officers (THPOs) shape cultural resource protection through Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) hydropower licensing.

Participants will learn how Cultural Resource Management Plans (CRMPs) and Historic Properties Management Plans (HPMPs) are developed, negotiated, and implemented as license conditions under Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act. Learn about:

-- approaches to resolving adverse effects on historic properties
-- best practices for ongoing plan implementation
