Dr. Florian Nagel is President of B.Grimm Power LLC (BGP Holding US), where he leads the company’s expansion into the U.S. renewable energy market. He has over 20 years of experience in hydropower, pumped storage, and renewable energy strategy, with a strong focus on linking technical design with financial optimization. At B.Grimm Power, Dr. Nagel has overseen two major U.S. hydropower acquisitions, most recently a US$436 million deal for a 25% stake in a large hydropower portfolio, establishing the company as a significant market player with the option to increase its stake further. Before relocating to the U.S., he was Head of Corporate Strategy at B.Grimm Power PCL in Thailand, where he authored the company’s “GreenLeap” strategy to achieve net zero by 2050 and expand its portfolio to 10 GW by 2030. Previously, he served as Managing Director of ILF Consulting Engineers Asia, delivering more than 3,000 MW of hydropower projects and introducing advanced CFD and probabilistic modeling techniques. As General Manager of Latins Swiss Hydro S.A.C in Peru, he advanced innovative pumped storage developments that integrated hydro with solar. Dr. Nagel holds a doctorate from ETH Zurich and strongly advocates for pumped storage as a cornerstone for renewable integration and energy security.
