Chetan Chauhan
Role: Conversation Starter
A seasoned hydropower and energy executive with more than 30 years of experience, he currently serves as President of American Hydro, one of North America's leading OEM and services providers for hydropower generation equipment — delivering turbines, generators, controls, and lifecycle solutions to utilities, IPPs, and government clients. Since assuming the presidency, he has reinvigorated American Hydro's positioning, leading a technology roadmap focused on equipment efficiency, reliability, and digitalization. The company is actively executing complex rehabilitation, modernization, and EPC projects that extend the life and performance of hydroelectric assets across key markets. His connection to hydropower runs deep — early in his career he served as Field Operations Manager for Hydro Power Generation, overseeing turbine, generator, and balance-of-plant modernization projects. He further broadened his global energy expertise at GE, where as Executive General Manager he led a world-class Operations & Maintenance business spanning 53 sites across 22 countries — building deep capability in asset lifecycle management, remote operations, and performance optimization at scale. A strong advocate for hydropower's role as a renewable, dispatchable cornerstone of a resilient grid, he holds an MBA from Syracuse University, a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, and a PMP certification.
