Joey Charles
Role: Faculty
Joey has served as the Hydro Compliance Coordinator in Georgia Power’s Land Department for 19 years. In this role, he provides support to shoreline managers and specialists to ensure compliance with license articles, Orders, and plans. He also serves as a cultural resources subject matter expert, supporting not only hydro, but forestry, transmission, distribution, and other generation projects companywide. Before coming to Georgia Power, he served as a cultural resources contractor for the US Army Reserve Command, as a Compliance Archaeologist for the Georgia Historic Preservation Division and Office of the State Archaeologist, and as a cultural resource management consultant. He earned a B.A. in Anthropology and an M.A. in Geography from the University of Georgia and currently resides in the metro Atlanta area with his wife and daughter.
