Chris Lawrence is the Executive Director of the Mid-West Electric Consumers Association (Mid-West). He took this position in November 2025. Mid-West represents 313 rural electric cooperatives and municipal utilities throughout the Missouri River Basin, who receive hydropower allocations from the Western Area Power Administration (WAPA). Mr. Lawrence works with Federal agencies, congressional staff, and partners to ensure Mid-West’s members continue to receive reliable and resilient preference hydropower power at the lowest cost possible based on sound business principles.
